Wonderful Memory - Guard Duty

Steamboat during Guard Duty. How's that for a regimental duty. I swear if we're caught, we will be in deep shit, hot soup or whatever you can name it.

Never in my whole guard duty life, it can be so fun and entertaining. Time flies when you are seriously enjoying every moment of it, even though it's in a shitty place. How i wish the rest of my guard duty can be just like yesterday.

One of my colleagues brought the steamboat cooker, which is able to BBQ as well. Alright, the other was in charge of the food, whereas for me, what i brought was the drinks and rented VCD.

We had steamboat for both lunch and dinner, with fragrant Nasi Lemak as our breakfast proudly brought by Stanley yet again. We started our steamboat lunch promptly @ lunchtime. Being our first time, we totally had no idea how to seriously go about doing it @ the little guard room. Space was a real issue but nevertheless, the hunger for food overcome all problems.

Butter onto the BBq pan and soup into the steamboat cooker. Not long, smoke can be seen. Not as serious. We had a few variety of food, leaving a huge chunk for a later dinner.

Dinner was much more fun. We did everything as per how we did it for lunch, only this time, we put more butter on the BBQ pan, and oh gosh, we got a shock of our lives. Smoke can be seen coming out from the pan and floating out of the window of the guard room. And this time round, the smoke is so thick and it looked like a mist or as though the whole guard room is on fire. We panicked this time, afraid that passerby might think that the guard room was on fire and inform the relevant authorities. Darn, we seriously had no choice but to close the window.

Wrong choice as well. Eating in a misty guard room with smoke around is seriously weird and humid. We decided to do away with the butter eventually and thankfully, it turned out better. After the dinner, we faced another problem, which might get us into deep shit - the whole guard room stink of the smoke. We did everything we can find i swear, mopping the floor, cleaning the window, 'powdering' the floor with baby powder, airing the room by blasting the giant fan, blasting the air conditioner as well. Seriously, it doesn't help much. All we prayed is for everything to be fine when the duty orderly sergerent came down to check on us later.

When he was here, one already went to sleep. Leaving me and another @ risk of being 'F'. Thankfully, he didn't questioned us even he did sense something wrong with the guardroom (i saw his nose moving, sensing some sort of weird smell). This whole chore took us half a day. Memorable experience. I guess it's all those silly and fun things that make the whole day memorable.

Seriously, a guard duty i'll never forget.
