Started Work At Last..

My one week of break flew past just like that. Seriously, it wasn't enough. I didn't get to enjoy more, i didn't get to eat supper every night although i managed to return to my weird sleeping hours.

Friday was a lazy day. Spent whacking balls and it was great. Don was still saying how we can try and enter into at least one compeition a year. At the rate we are playing, perhaps we have to try harder but i would say we are improving. I'm still better playing with my secret weapon - my glove.

Saturday was walla KBox with Dearie. Her favourite of course and this time round, it's 2pm to 7pm. We finally decided that this slot was the more valuable and worth it that the other time slot after comparing the number of hours we get to sing and also the amount we have to pay. But their air-conditioning is really cold, so much so that we gave ourselves out and surrender the bill with just half an hour more to go. Brr....too cold.

Sunday was left with us spending our noon sleeping away like pigs. We woke up to a nice dinner whipped up by my parents and some really refreshing fruit juice.
I missed those juices. It's been a long time since mum took out her secret machine and made us those fresh fruit juice. Simply yummy. Bro headed for tekong that day sadly. It reminds me on how i felt when i used to be just like him...Hopefully, he can brave this through strong enough...

Today is my first day of work, but not official though. Spent the day having orientation. Learnt alot about the company only to realise it wasn't that relevant to my department. Was disappointed because the way my department works isn't as good as how the company is practising. I'm seriously confused, plus the fact that i want and have to study. I'm not sure whether i still can...stress....my brain is bursting...really stressed

Magnum Ecuador Dark

All it takes is some good advertisement and poof, there you go, you buy the product. For $3.90 a price for an ice cream bar, i was hesitant. Nevertheless, i carry this 'at least you try once even it cost slightly expensive' mindset and went on to buy my first ever magnum ice cream. I'm proud when i bought it, so much so that i showed off to Dearie.

My first bite was nice. I bite open the chocolate shell, it tastes different from any other, or it could be perhaps i thought i paid $3.90 for it, so it SHOULD taste different. It was vanilla flavoured ice cream inside. I thought, ooh..perhaps there's more chocolate filling inside, but as i continue to eat, lick and bite the ice cream, all i see is only the vanilla ice cream and chocolate shell. Halfway through, i wss very disappointed. I knew it's really overrated. And by the time i finished, i decided that their marketing for this product was good. And indeed, i feel cheated. Dammit....I HATE WALLS!!!

Team Hoyt

I'm inspired and touched by the video on Don's blog totally. I went to find out more and was really shocked. They are really inspiring. What the father believes in is certainly out the love and it touches one's heart to know what the son is going through as well. Together, they certainly make a difference.

To tell you more, Team Hoyt is a father (Dick Hoyt) and son (Rick Hoyt, b. 1962) in Massachusetts who compete together in marathons, triathlons, and other athletic endeavors. Rick has cerebral palsy, caused by loss of oxygen to his brain at birth because his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. Dick carries him in a special seat up front as they bike, pulls him in a special boat as they swim, and pushes him in a special wheelchair as they run.

Thanks to his parents, who ignored the advice of doctors that he would live life in a persistent vegetative state, and Tufts University engineers, who recognized that his sense of humor indicated intelligence, at the age of 12, Rick was able to learn how to use a special computer to communicate, using movements from his head. The first words he typed were, "Go Bruins!", and the family learned he was a sports fan. They entered their first race in 1977, a 5 mile benefit run for an injured lacrosse player who was a schoolmate of Rick's.

Dick is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard. Rick earned a college degree from Boston University in special education, and now works at Boston College. They continue to compete in races, and are also motivational speakers.

As of January 31, 2008, Team Hoyt had participated in a total of 958 events, including 224 Triathlons (6 of which were Ironman competitions), 20 Duathlons, and 65 Marathons, including 25 Boston Marathons.[1] They have also biked and run across the USA, in 1992 — a 3,735 mile journey that took them 45 days.

When asked what one thing Rick wished he could give his father, his reply was "The thing I'd most like is that my dad would sit in the chair and I would push him once."

What even deeply touched me is the fact that his father has aged so much since their first run till now that for so many years, he continued fulfilling every dreams and common goals they have. A great father indeed.

Weekend Fun

At last, i ORD. Two years of National Service has finally ended. At last, i'm seeing something pink - my IC. The feeling was great, especially when i saw my brother enlisting not long ago, it greatly reflect and dawned on me on how i have passed these two years. I'm entering into the next phase of life. I'm finally working. I can say i'm working towards my goals now. I won't say it's the best but it's certainly what i'm looking for, at the very least, for now.

Right now, i have one week of break, minus-ing off today, it's going to be only 6 days left. I'm going to do all the things i want to do - playing my guitars, learning my poker magic, packign up my room, training for the upcoming marathon and of course, spend time with my friends and loved ones...

My enjoyment starts the cery day i held my pink IC. Rented a car to go around with Dearie. She took half day leave and we went places. She discovered a great place to buy hair and facial products @ Chinatown. The stuff there are really cheap. They have almost everything, from shampoos to pads to masks etc...Especially for their pads, it's so dirt cheap that they limit the girls to purchase it only at a maximum number of 4 per brand. First time ever i saw such things.

I badly wanted a book shelf, so i headed to both Alexandra and Tampines IKEA but still, i didn't get any, because their delivery charge is too expensive @ $50. Being a not so frequent driver, so often find myself losing my way to my destination, what's worse is that if you are around the CBD area and that's when you will find your cashcard starting to drop it's value. I got lost at the CBD area the other day and i actually went through the same bloody ERP gantry twice within the span of few minutes. Total crap. Perhaps it would be a better idea for the brainless government to actually consider the fact that it's only human to err and that it only be logical not to charge any driver passing through the same gantry twice on their 2nd time if it falls within a stipulated time.

Sadly, both me and Dearie didn't get to travel to those places we wanted that very night but we did received our compensation the very next day. This time round, the gang joined us.

In the morning, we went Geylang to eat our favourite beancurd. Sadly, we couldn't find any after passing so many lorongs and we decided to settle for 和包记. We ordered quite a number of dishes and we wiped them all out within a few minutes because we were all extremely hungry by then.

The Star - Nissan Latio

和包记

I'm so thirsty that i had two cups of this soya milk

Wonton Noodles

Har Kau

Chee Cheong Fan

Siew Mai

Char Siew Bao

Yam Cake

Porridge

It's all wiped out within minutes..
We had already beforehand where we are going for our meals and the next stop for lunch was @ Tiong Bahru. Somehow, we couldn't find the food centre after its renovation so we settle for Bat Ku Teh @ this outlet which turns out to be very nice but expensive.

Their soup is simply superb

And it tastes especially nice with this youtiao

No asking why their Bat Ku Teh is so nice..
We headed to fetch the other two and soon, the whole car was filled with 6 people. It makes the back really cramped but we still find time to make ourselves look nice..wee!

We headed to Chomp Chomp after that and it's really some nice and fulfilling meal we had. Definitely satisfying for a food lover like me. Except for that lousy pizze though.

Black Carrot Cake..

White Carrot Cake..

Sambal KangKong
Sambal Sotong

One of my favourite for that night, StingRay

This Sugarcane Juice cost 3 bucks but it's definitely worth the money. It's jumbo! So jumbo that Jon had difficulty finishing it and Me and Don were laughing away...poor jon..

Oyster Omelette

Gavian ordered 16 bucks worth of Satay! It's my first time eating so many satay but it's really nice.

BBQ Chicken Wings.

The Boos of the night - lousy pizza

Went GIANT @ Tampines before we went to Geylang to satisfying the durian cravings for some of them. When we reached there, it's totally packed. It's super hard to find a parking lot, so much so that we have to squeeze through here and there to get a parking lot. Geylang suddenly become Durian paradise. I see durians stores more than i see prostitudes...and so, they start ordering their durians while i indulge in my coconut.

Durian Paradise..

The super huge D24 Durian.

There's this funny thing which Jon did. At the store, there's still 包吃 sign and Jon went to ask the uncle whether his durian was nice before wanting to buy. Uncle replied 当然好吃啦. Haa, we laugh when Gavian mentioned it. Would they even sell durian that's not nice? Haa, we made many jokes out of it and joked through the whole durian eating session. Funny indeed!

My Coconut..

We headed for our last meal of the day @ Changi Village. Finally i get to eat their Nasi Lemak again. Even @ 12 plus at night, there's still queue. This goes to show how famous and nice their Nasi Lemak is. Even with two stall side by side competing, they have a equal number of queues. I have personally tried both and i love it. It's something so special about their rice which makes me want to eat more!

The very night ended well because i finally get to see what's on top of the hill along rifle range road.

It's jamming time on Sunday. We finally get our hands on our guitars again and this time round, we compeleted two song almost perfectly. We decided the next time we jam again, we're going to record the two songs. We're also going to concentrate on playing our next song on Acoustic. We have never done it before and it's going to be quite highly anticipated.

Watched Dark Knight that very evening. I was so tired that i couldn't help but keep dozing off at the start of the movie. Thankfully, i was awake for the main action. It's a nice movie, certainly better than Spiderman 3. No wonder why it would break Spiderman 3 world record in the box office. But somehow, actions are lacking in this movie. I'm eagerly waiting for two movies to be out - The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Money Not Enough 2.

I finally ran again yesterday night. The basketball session was relaxing and fun too. I really love sports and i hope i can still enjoy it the way i used to. Right now, i want to concentrate on my marathon...

I dyed my hair at last! No more black hair...it's 2 years since i last see myself in coloured hair....

Feasting and Acoustic Guitar

I'm really going to get FAT. I had Pasta Mania together with Dearie and her aunt. Her aunt, as a finiancial advisor/planner, really talked to me alot lots of plans. I'm impressed at the figures they are banking into their pockets and bank accounts per month as well. I've decided to take up one savings plans as well to save my money. For someone like me, it's better to have 'somebody' to save my money for me. I'm too ill-disciplined to save any money.

Back to Pasta Mania, at last, Pasta Mania has decided that there's another important group of market they need to target, for people like me, they have introduce a more asian pasta to attack this market. I'm sure it will do well because the Spicy Unagi Pasta i ate was simply delicious. Now i can proudly tell DON that Pasta Mania is no longer a problem for me!

That very evening was birthday celebration for ShuXia. Had Ala-Carte buffet @ Dragongate Restaurant. 4 hungry birds reached there and we swept 16 dishes before the other 2 late birds start joining us. Well, we eat and eat until we were to full to carry on. Obviously the staff there have some trouble knowing the quantity we ordered and also the portion of big, medium and small. Frustrating! Anyway, it was a great meal because we ate for full 4 hours!

After the dinner, we had trouble deciding where to go. Yes, it has become more of a trend/habit for the MR group. We actually spent a long time before deciding where to go, all thanks to Mildred's parents that we've got a car to drive us around. Went playing pool and instead, it turned out that Foosball interests some of us much better than pool did. Delon's surprise was really power-packed. I guess ShuXia was really surprised....Anyway, Happy Birthday once again!

I watched Red Cliff today with Donna. I wasn't interested in the show at first, thinking that it might be some stupid chinese war movie like how it has been played again and again. But seriously, after their big advertising, my interests was aroused. I'm glad i did watch this movie. I didn't regret any single bit. The movie is perfect to me. I would pay a weekend price to watch it. I can't wait for the part 2 to come out. ARGH!!

Gosh, i bought an Acoustic guitar accidentally. I was too tempted, because of Donovan. But i was thankful to that temptation because i really loved it and the sound is simply superb. Hopefully, it will heal the wound and scar left behind when i sold me very first acoustic guitar with regards years ago.

My Temptation..
S>Another birthday celebration over at Dearie's relatives house just now. It's eat and eat and eat again. At the rate i'm eating, i'm going to get super fat. Plus the feasting tml and Sat, oh gosh, i dare not stand into any weighing scale to weigh myself.

Farewell Gathering (MDIS)

My final paper for my diploma programme has finally ended. It's the longest paper i've ever sat. I wrote the most ever for this paper as well. I was fully prepared for the paper before the actual exam, but when the exam started, my mind suddenly went blank. I was confused even and i did waste a few marks here and there and i really regret. It's really a pity but now that it's over, i'm praying only for the best.

Today dinner was definitely very filling. 4 hour past my dinner time and yet i'm still feeling so bloated. I concluded that i'm definitely not suitable for international buffet, all because i have a royal mouth. I'm not into western cuisine so when it comes to international buffet, you can only find me at the asian cuisine counters. As a Chinese, naturally i'm a huge lover of Chinese cuisine, be it Dim Sum, Noodles or Soup...Occasionally, i might fancy the likes of certain sushi and food from western cuisine like chicken chop. I'm not sure will i be able to eat my worth just by wobbling up food which i like and prefer.

I'm also a lover of cakes, ANY cakes other than cheesecake will do the job in satisfy my tastebuds. Same goes for desserts as well. Today's Sakura buffet was specially organised as a farewell gathering for my class. After one year together, we at the very least, can regconise each other but still have some difficulty remembering names. As a class, i think it's much easier to interact as compared to those studying in huge lecture theater, like the one Dear's studying in. I'm gladful i have a group of friends who have helped me alot in my studies. I won't forget the times when we meet up at weird timing and nice places to study and do project. Tough and good times ended.

Back to today's farewell gathering. Slightly less than half the class attended, nevertheless, it's a good gathering as that's the one and only gathering we have. Some turned slightly emotional towards the end, but i'm not. Perhaps i'm only closer to my own group, especially the first person i've known who has became my class buddy now, Ivan. He still might be my prospective classmate should i further pursue my degree as we both had intended.

Back to the buffet, well, given the variety, only a section suits me, the asian cuisine section, the desserts section and teppanyaki section. Still, i got myself so bloated. After the buffet it's pool with Ivan. I'm playing with mixed feeling. For that might be the last time i'm playing with someone whom i have studied one year with. But i shall fear nothing because i can always keep in touch with them...

3 1/2 days more to ORD!

Wahjong Time

A slow and lazing weekend is going to end. We basically did nothing but laze around, eat, playing with our hamsters, sleep and of course Wahjong. She almost into Wahjong. It's my only tool in teaching her how to play Mahjong. We practically hooked on it for the past 2 days. Look for us in there.

8 more days to ORD

Tuesday lunch was fantastic. It was going to be my last lunch together with my bosses and superiors. The lunch was planned as a farewell meal for my superior, department head, who's going to ORD the very same day as me. Well, a nice man who has reached the age of 40++ and supposedly, got to leave the service. I got to know about what he's going to do after he left the service and found out that he's going to teach, as a Design and Technology teacher. That didn't really sound very prospective and i was rather shocked to hear this. I tried putting myself in his shoes and i was like oh gosh. He's going to take home salary much lower than what's he's getting now i assumed. But that's the disadvantage he would have expected awhile back. Just hope he would lead his life on just nice, because he's a really nice guy.

Anyway, back to lunch. It's on Tuesday, the only day i'll be in camp for the whole of the week. I'm left like half a day of working day after that day. Lunch is at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Found out that it's actually a five-star hotel. Well, you couldn't expect that bad a lunch from such hotels isn't it. I was wrong big time. The variety isn't that much, except for the desserts. A widespread of cakes, kueh and ice creams! Yummy...oh ya, did i mention i ordered watermelon juice together with a group of people who didn't realised that it actually cost 11 bucks (excluding the taxes), and yet thinking that it's free. It's just a kind of strategy employed by the waitress there i suppose. Wahaa...Thank goodness i'm not the one footing the bill...

My exam preparation sucks big time. This term, the lecturers sucks big time. I had to go through so much just to even complete their assignment. I didn't spent much time studying for Wednesday paper because i felt as though i'm already when as a matter of fact i wasn't really. I briefly prepared myself and went for 'war'. Thankfully, it didn't turned out that badly.
(Thanks for your goodluck wishes and kiss, dearie)

I gave myself spare time to finally catch up with my guitar. I've finally improved on my pinky practice. I wanted to play fast paced solo so much but it's really difficult. I'm all out to practice my skills because i know given my playing experienced, i ought to be somewhere decent in playing guitar. Well, i would rather say i'm better @ Wahjong. That night, i played Wahjong for nearly an hour and i was winning like for consecutive 12 games. WOW! I was on so high that i badly wanted a real mahjong game. Anyone wanna play mahjong? Please jio me!!

I actually felt bad that i didn't sent my brother to tekong today. Well, he knew i wasn't because i stayed up late the other day and he too didn't want me to go. He thinks nothing out of it. To be frank, he's taking it very easily, far much easier than me near 2 years ago. Well, as much as i think he would handle this period pretty well, there's still some worries. Just wish all the best to him and hopefully he'll enjoy his stay there...

Went Dearie's auntie house today. She was nice to invite us over for some simple homefare but that's not the main thing. The main attraction was her daughter. She's simply too cute. 6 months old, super chubby and also active. Wow....Dearie can't stopped playing with her even after she complained that her hands are aching from carrying the 8.5kg baby. I thought to myself, how nice would it be to have my own daughter in future, i'll dote on her soooooo much.

Alright man, Dear's staying over tomorrow........come come come!

8 more days to ORD, at last!

Weekend Fun (4)

Friday was a great time! I'm going to ORD, so going to work is just like going to relax in just another air-con office. The moment i'm in office, all my colleagues will go like 'hey Kelvin, you're still here?!?!' or 'Watcha doin here man, shouldn't you be somewhere else?'

Seriously, i used to hate this office. Nowadays, i'm keep thinking through, how i have passed this almost two years and how would i feel looking back. But it's just part and parcel of lives. People come and go. I've made some great pals in there and they simply rocks. It's them that my life in there weren't that miserable. Barely 2 more working days and i'm gone. Tomorrow is going to be a great farewell lunch for a Major who is going to ORd the same day as me. I'm totally looking forward to it because it's at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel!! Imagine a 44++ lunch buffet, i'm going to eat my fill man!

Back to Friday. Dear wants to go shopping! Her shopping craze occurs once every few weeks, so i'm always prepared. This time round, Bugis. We had trouble deciding what to eat (as always), and so, we walked round and round Bugis to finally end up at the foodcourt. Well, we should have been to the Seafood Harvest....it really looks yummy (dearie, soon ok?)

Now i know what shopping can does to girls. We went Bugis Street and tried grabbing some cheap deals. She got quite a few dress at really super cheap price. Of course, we left for home with her smiling for grin to grin. Pengz!

Saturday was a spoiler instead. We had intended to do some cycling after sooo long. We certainly missed those days when we aren't even together and yet, she's teaching me roller-blading and cycling with me. BUT!!!! God spoils it all. Rain starts pouring...we delayed our outing and changed it to a eating and Kbox session! It was like a dream came true. Me and Dearie finally get to sing KBox again. I miss singing KBox! She has been singing so often with her friends that i finally nag at her. It was expensive but all thanks to my linkpoints, which i exchanged it for a 20 bucks KBox voucher! Our sumptous dinner's at Swensens, our favourite place as always - the exact same place we'll never forget. Fish baked rice for her and Chilli Fish Pasta for me. Wanted to order more but we decided to eat the dessert at Basement 2. However, we were too full for anything so we went exercising our fingers and hands @ the arcade. Played this very interesting game whereby we have to find a pair of similar tiles. We were almost hooked to it....nice game! It's dessert after that, we ordered durian and mango shaved ice. Ewww, i hated durian whereas Dearie hated mango. And so, we 'fought', in the end, i gave up, because the durian smell is just too strong for me...eww! We arrived at Kbox at 8 plus and sang our hearts out all the way until near 12am. At last, with the voucher, it didn't hurts our pockets at all...

Caught Wanted on Sunday with Xero4. Nice movie although many claimed that it wasn't nice at all. Went SweeLee shortly after. The moment i went in, i have this great temptation. I'm going to get a new amp soon, i'm sure i am. My current amp is really giving way. I have this urge to change my guitar as well. Something more soothing, something more cool and sleek. But all their guitars are so expensive. I'm going to save up, while i continue practice my guitar skills....

Dawn VS XiaXue

It's hilarious how to see how childish some people can get.
  • First, XiaXue made some sudden and random post to spark off everything to rant about Dawn Yang, making supposedly falseful accusations.
  • Second, Dawn's agency and manager did some defensive actions and threatens Xiaxua that if she didn't delete that very post, they will take lawful actions.
  • Third, Xiaxue reluctantly removed that post and made some silly comments (as always).
  • Fourth, Dawn act blur and retaliate nicely (as always as well).
  • Fifth, Xiaxue did the unnecessary again because she's not happy with how she's being aimed and treated at (as always).
  • Sixth: This part hasn't happen yet but i bet it will be quite private just between the two. One word to wrap this up like how Dearie claimed it to be, CHILDISH.

Enjoy the entertainment here..

Half Man-Half Tree

I was browsing through the net and saw this video clip about a person who has hands and legs that look like a tree. It's a documentary by discovery channel. I'm sure some of you are already aware of it. I watched the full 6 episodes which took my around 40 minutes.

I truly feel for that guy. My heart reached out not only to him but to his children as well. When it reaches one episodes whereby it shows all the 'special' people, my heart literally 'turn sour'. That is the real reason why we human should learn to be contented with what we have, especially us living in Singapore....

Do view these videos...it's a good lesson...

Just thought of sharing something as well. He went for the operation and he's recovering well. He has 2 more operation to go afterwhich he will be put under observation to ensure that his warts doesn't grows back. His wishes now is to go back to his village and work as a fisherman again, and hopefully remarry again..

Wishing him all the best...

It's only Human to Err

It's totally a mood ruining day. Like many said, one things lead to another. Sometimes, people just make a mountain out of a small molehill, whereas for the other times, some people can just turn an eye away and simply ignore those plain silly mistakes committed.

Human makes mistakes. It's only human to err. How many times have we heard of such sayings, and yet, how many can actually learn from mistakes, and also, how many can actually forgive and accept the fact that EVERY human made mistakes.

It's not a grave mistake i'm talking about here. It's more on how i think we human should be far more forgiving. If a person can learn from his or her mistakes, then bravo, he's even a more successful and better person than before he made that mistakes. However, if the person commits a mistakes and yet don't learn from it and commit it once again, i would only say he or she is half gone case. The worst one will ever see is a person not admitting their mistakes, such scroundel should be slapped hard in the face.

I chanced upon this article as to why human makes mistakes. Mistakes occurs only because one commits it unintentionally and should be forgiven if he or she is willing to learn from it. Now i'll share with everyone as to why people make mistakes.

  • Incomplete knowledge -- we often make decisions on subjects where we don't know all the relevant facts
  • Poor communication -- people don't always share all necessary knowledge with decision makers
  • Changing conditions -- a decision based upon today's information may turn out to be wrong tomorrow
  • Pressure -- people often make mistakes when they have to make decisions too quickly or when under stress
  • Complexity -- systems can become so complicated that the developers cannot keep all the details straight. There are limits to the ability of people's minds to process information.

So it's actually forgivable if the mistakes committed is unintentionally and not of any bad intention. So let's us just learn from this fact and learn to be more forgiving. Put yourself into that person shoes before we start to blame him or her for anything...
