A Different Movie Experience

Being a movie goer, I simply love watching movie. In fact, it's one of my favourite hobbies. Movie has come a long way, along with its providers as well. Ever since Golden Village came up with their very own Gold Class, it was met with good response where finally, they met their first rival - Cathay Platinum Suites. Skeptical in the first place because of the price, I am now convinced that you literally get for what you pay. The experience that you get, might simply wow you and overcome your perceived value of it.

And now, having try both GV Gold Class and Cathay Platinum Suites, allow me to share my two cents worth based on my experience with the two that really offers movie experience, like no other.

Pre Movie Ambience (Cathay Platinum Suites)
Both focus on giving exclusivity to their patrons for such price they paid for a movie. Therefore, you may check in earlier and rest at their lounge before the movie. However, this is where the service differentiates.
GV Gold Class: Nice ambience with dimly lit light where you can sit around and browse the menu. Other than that, you're left with the person/people to entertain.
Cathay Platinum Suites: Nice ambience with nicely decorateed interior. They even prodive iPad for patrons. Unfortunately, there's only 1 iPad to go around, so either you reach there early to get it, or you are left with the menu and the person/people you're with. Menu browsing is available as well.

Seat (GV Gold Class)
Both offer spacious and comfortable seats, wide enough to be comparable to an aircraft business class seat. The diffentiating factor is the controls.
GV Gold Class: Leg Rest and body rest portion are controlled seperately, allowing you to adjust accordingly to your needs and wants. They even have a head rest so that your head has enough support so that it won't causes strain to the neck.
Cathay Platinum Suites: Leg Rest and body rest portion are being controlled by just one button. It's just I can't rest my body while not wanting my leg to be stretched flat.

Food (Cathay Platinum Suites)
GV Gold Class: Healthy range of food offered. From beverages to main courses. Most popular good I reckon is their seafood basket. Relatively normal portion. Food is ordinary and price is pricey.
Cathay Platinum Suites: Limited range of food offered. Almost on par with that of GV Gold Class. Price of their food however is cheaper than GV Gold Class, with some even much cheaper than their fair compeitor. Food is yummy although portion are small.

Comfort (Both)
Both did not neglect the comfort while watching movie. It makes you feel as though you are watching your favourite movie at your own home. Therefore, special stuff are provided to ensure comfort
GV Gold Class: Pillows and Blanket are provided for you to ensure you are warmly covered under the air conditioned. Also, a pillow for you to cuddle because the seat are so spacious, all you can do is hold the hands of your partner period, no hanky panky.
Cathay Platinum Suites: Only Blankets are provided which comes in a form of Quilt which is really comfortable. However, no pillow and the spaciousness is basically the same as that of GV Gold Class.

Service (Both)
Paying that kind of price, a high standard of service is definitely expected.
GV Gold Class: The staff is made to ensure they deliver a prompt service. They are also patient to take your orders as and when you want and the whole process of ordering food and payment is made smooth to ensure your experience is not disrupted.
Cathay Platinum Suites: Same as GV Gold Class, staff are trained to service promptly and politely. They were also trained to ask if patrons are first time patron so that they can brief them on the whole environment and process. They also ensure service remain smooth and not disruptive in any moment of the movie experience.

Movie Experience (Both)
Likewise, there is no doubt why both providers are confident to price their exclusive class of ticket at that price because they believe the price can match the experience that they are offering.
GV Gold Class: Red colour is their corporate theme that sit nicely with their branding. Experience were made good and exclusive to ensure consumers feel and stay happy through the entire movie experience. The only bad point is, their trailers are still played just like the normal movie, which is literally a chore at times. Imagine waiting up to 10-15 minutes before your movie can actually commence. Other than that, the rest is near to perfect.
Cathay Platinum Suites: In collaboration with AMEX, they simply could not afford to jeopardise the brand. Heavily supported by Amex, they are out to compete with Gold Class and I must say they did a good job with their Platinum Suites Membership along with their launch. Shouting on their business class seating and experience which they deliver, it's definitely a world of their own. Entire movie experience is wholesome yet exclusive.

In conclusion, I would prefer GV Gold Class primarily because I weigh the comfort of my seat and the flexibility to control the incline more than anything else. Nevertheless, if I had cravings for good and yummy food while having my beloved food, Cathay Platinum Suites would definitely be my choice.

Nevertheless, having said that, I think for these price, it would be better to go along with a movie that runs for at least 100 minutes to make the experience worthwhile. What's the point of paying 2-3 times more just to watch a an hour and a half movie - it's like before you can enjoy the entire movie experience, the movie's over and you've to leave.

On a side note, such movie experience is a good platform for couples because of the way they configure the theaters. If you notice, the configuration of the theater is done in pairs. In another words, it serve as an ideal way for couples to enjoy their movie in the most loving way possible. Also, if families are looking for a quieter moment to enjoy movie together, such movie experience is the way to go.

Hope that helps fellow movie goers.

What's Real Courage?

I don't really have an explanation or definition of what real courage is. But while watching '127 Hours', a movie that potrays how a mountaineer overcomes nearly the impossible to free himself, and eventually getting himself rescued, the two words 'real courage' was all that was on my mind.

It's dubbed a story of Man Vs Nature, yet the pieces behind that left a real impossible mission. Determination overcomes desperation. Strong willed mind replaces negativity. How a man who nearly faced death turned into a high prolific speaker who earns general a 5-digit sum per session of speech. Impressive mind I would say who even continued his mountain climbing adventure even till today.

Someone once said, "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly."

But I supposed when it comes to facing the nature, none of the above paragraph would works, yet it is the versatility of being able to do the above mentioned while gaining much known knowledge that can keep this man alive. No denying how knowing more can eventually raise the chances of living when it comes to situation like the above, in a literal no man's land.

If being strong willed ends there and then, from the moment one of his hand leaves him, that's impressive. What about the life after that which to me, probably amounts to an even more impressive story altogether.

Life is vulnerable, but not our heart and mind. Agree?

Club Med Sahoro (Pre & Post Included)

My first time experiencing snow and i can still remember how i experience slight 'panicky' before the trip. Thanks to the girl who has been my constant reminder and companion in getting the what shoulds and what nots. Prior to the trip, we did some shopping. I'm proud of my latest big buy - Lumix FX 65. I finally owned a Lumix much thanks to the girl and i've got three words for it, i love it! The many different modes, the wide angle capability, the anti shake function plus the matt finished surface really makes it a much better camera as compared to my previous few LOUSY Olympus camera.

And so, with that camera, i had some nice moments captured first hand. My first visit to Waraku brought by the girl. Gives me another reason to eat pasta as she introduced me to this yummy Pasta with wafu sauce. I am right now, just waiting for my second visit to try other pasta! Followed by subsequent outings (Food Expo included) before i actually fly off to Nihon.

Back to this hot little island, i went back to my old ranting and grumbling of the weather. It's contradicting how i not only appreciate but also 'complain' about the cold when i am back in Japan, Club Med Sahoro. A FAM trip organised by Club Med and i was sent by my company to this trip, and yes, thankfully, everything paid for, except for the taxes.

Ultimately, the weather isn't as bad as i thought it would be.

The white falling snow, the huge patch of snow all around, makes the entire little place looks so unreal. As the sun shines on it, there came a glowing brightness that even my eyes couldn't take it. Being a ski resort, skiing or snowboarding seems to be the only thing to do over there. I never thought that it would be so difficult, especially after watching on television how those skiiers ski, as though they were floating around the snow field/mountain and flying all around. I lost count the number of times i fell but nevertheless, it was pure fun. Snow trek on the other hand was fun. The 2 hours of rolling/running/walking down the snow mountain was out of the world experience.

Food wise, i thought i'll be feasting on lots of Sushi and Sashimi but instead, it's different food everyday. Being an all inclusive resort, therefore, their different themes for food everyday seriously made guests spoilt for choices, plus their free flow of drinks, from juices to alcohol, it's really a feast for food lovers and maybe a indulgence for those who drinks.

Weather was cold and i could remember so clearly the coldest was on Sunday with wind blowing up to 50km/hr and temperature hitting -16 degree celcius. Nevertheless, all of that was a nice experience and it seriously made me wonder when will i experience such snowy winter again, depicting a romantic scene as well.
The surprise came just nice as the girl decided to be uber sweet and popped up at the airport admist her busy project with the submission deadline being the next day in fact. The fact the flight was delayed made it even more memorable. I've never been fetched from the airport and this first time totally made the homecoming a very loved one.

At last, we fulfilled our long awaited cravings for some nice Bat Kut Teh and singing in JB. I love the cheap food and stuff over in JB which makes me want to make it the place to satisfy my cravings. Their K-session was so cheap that i could sing until my throat went sore. With exams is just over 2 weeks later and mugging officially begins. Where it begins shall be where it continues and so, RP is still the place to mug in. I miss the moments last year when everyone was busy mugging as well which was so much fun. This time round, i got the girl to mug together earlier along with funshine - just something to makes everything else so interesting. Of course, out of all these busy-ness, we always find time to relax and play a little and the time back in Starbucks playing that riddles almost squeezed my brain dry but all was worth it.

On the side note, there's so many upcoming movies that i wanted to watch. I realised i'm watching lesser movies as compared to my hay-days. I shall 从出江湖 again and hit the theaters as soon as any nice movies are out.

Looking forward to the end of exams and NATAS (yet again) before i can officially relax a little and fulfil the 'one million to do' list.

Sex is Zero 2

Sex is Zero 2 is finally out. I caught the part 1 months ago though the part 1 was released like 6 years ago. After 6 years, Sex is Zero 2 finally returned, with the original same cast.

(Law student Eun-sik and beautiful swimming champion Kyung-ah (Princess Hours' Song Ji-hyo) are a campus couple. But Eun-sik has not been able to get past kissing. Still in pursuit of "getting laid", he lets out his sexual frustration by overly working out at the gym and is now used to taking care of it himself.

On the other had, Sung-kook, a long-time college student and the leader of the school's K-1 fighting club, shares quarters with the members of the girls' swimming club. He freely indulges in his sexual desires with the beautiful girls of the swimming club.

After learning about Eun-sik's troubles, Sung-kook sets out to help Eun-sik get what he wants the most. But even with Sung-kook's guidance, Eun-sik experiences one disaster after another, and even gets mistaken for a pervert. As Eun-sik is preoccupied with finding ways to sleep with Kyung-ah, a new guy enters the picture, Kyung-ah's childhood sweetheart. Not only could Eun-sik not find ways to sleep with Kyung-ah, he might end up losing her altogether. )

Sadly, Dear wasn't able to watch because she's not 21 yet. So any 'adult' interested to watch this movie with me??
