There’s a Child is Everyone

Pardon me on this rather random topic. A thought struck me moments earlier that prompt me to pen this never before post. Perhaps, that thought faithfully brought me back to my childhood for a moment, and subsequently leading me through a imaginary journey of toys, cartoons, games and what not.

There's a Child in Everyone
I am a firm believer that there is a child in everyone. I remember when I was younger, alongside with my brother, we owned tons of toys, bought lovingly by families and relatives who doted so much on us. But, both of us were not the only ones armed with these entertainments, my mum had one too, initially. Then it grew to two and eventually to a collection of a few. And her collection, Barbie Doll.
Mummy's Favourite Toy!
At that tender age, I could not apprehend why my mother has a toy too herself. It was not when I grew up into my teens that I realized the child is her caused her to own that Barbie Doll only when she was an adult, of course, this was accompanied by a history. She was poor when she was young, and toys then were considered a luxury. By that purchase she made for herself when she was an adult, I instantly linked it to the fact on how badly she wished she had that Barbie Doll when she was younger. I remembered how sternly she warned us not to touch her toys (all because she knew how boys would strip that Barbie off her clothes and bite her hair off like a dinosaur).

Looking back now, I too realized my mother was not the only person who expressed the child in her. Even my grandpa did. I am not sure if it has anything to do with his aging condition, but he too behaves like a child at times. Perhaps, with the cycle of having being taken care of as a child by parents, to caring for his own children as a parent and eventually back to being care of as an adult by his own children and grandchildren, it is natural.

Back to the highlight of this post, I thought hard to myself in my childhood, along with my playmate and friends, I did really enjoyed my childhood, and too, unknowingly bring along those interests with me, even until today.

Childhood - Those Carefree Days...
From Power Rangers to Digimon, from Baa Baa Black Sheep to Pokemon, you name it, I love them all. To think that I changed my CCA during my secondary school days just to ensure I get to watch my Pokemon every Saturday is enough to show just about anyhow how I love my cartoons, toys and games. Even until now.

Speak to my significant other and she will gladly tell you stories on how I chose my game over her. Even my dad can vouch those stories with a particular incident where I was playing Neopets just hours before my GCE O Level exams. Imagine the anger.
Childhood Friend/Foe
Apart from those toys and game, I must say, there would not be fun without mates. My brother was the one who ‘fought countless war’ with me in Digimon, the one who sit so closely with me during every Saturday and Sunday morning cartoon time and of course, the one who got both of us caned with fights over toys as well. Apart from him, I’m fortunate to have friends with the same interests. One person in particular of course. He know who he is. From Neopets to Pokemon to Maplestory and now, Sudden Attack. I could easily call him a virtual best friend because we seem to spend more time virtually then being out together doing anything other than gaming.

Nevertheless, it was the above mentioned moments that make me feel life has been fun so far. Like I said, till today, I still yearn to own a Pokemon plushie, I still feel excited over watching old times cartoons and definitely I would want my kids to be as happy as how their father was in the past.

Games, Toys etc may cost money, but the happiness, interests and sometimes, passion that those tangibles brings, is definitely priceless, one that only like minded people would understand, truly.

CHILDHOOD IS PRICLESS. PERIOD.

Derby of all Derbies

As far as I can remember in my years of supporting the Devils, never once has Man Utd came so close to a record breaking title, yet so far because of the inconsistency as well as the presence of the next door neighbors.

To put it simply, it’s now or never. It harnesses even more truth when the match possibly proves to be a victorious one or a heart-wrenching one to either one. To be honest, this season has been a roller coaster ride for the Devil fans. Starting with the season slowly, and eventually being dumped behind by the Blues by mid season. The hard fought spirit gradually gave us a light of hope beginning of this year up until a point where we could literally feel the trophy. But now, it’s all to fight for. Blame it on the inconsistency if one must. I don’t remember feeling so disappointed so many times during my years of supporting them and I must say, they never fail to disappoint at times they most should not have.

For once, I can better understand the meaning of ‘comeback’. It’s never easy to sustain the momentum, especially with a squad full of good players vying for top spot. It wasn’t until beginning of this year where the tables were turned around. The introduction of Paul Scholes was a pure shocker. Nobody expectted him to play, and definitely not me of course. Just when the midfield crisis is starting to deepen, Scholes seems to be the angel amongst the darkness. However, I dare not harbor hopes, because it all seemed too far, then. Anything that happens after that is a fairytale. Wins after wins in games he played, Rooney formed a near perfect partnership with a rising Danny Welback and from there, we see how Man City feels threaten for the first time this season and since then, things were going our way. I That’s the thing about this beautiful game. Nobody can say it’s over until the final whistle is blown.

Nobody can said who’s going to have the title until the title has been won literally and in 12 hours time, I’m about to watch one of the greatest derby of my life, dubbed the Derby of all Derbies! I have such huge faith in them and I could feel what it is like being in the shoes of the players themselves. Having said that, all I wish is, come 5am tomorrow, I’ll be having one of the sweetest dreams of my life.

End of the Fever

Victories on 4 occasions definitely made them look like a champions. But who knows, tables were turned around just when they were super hot favourites.

Finally, the world cup ended with dismay and disappointment. I thought the loss at that stage (quarter-finals) was acceptable, but come to think of it, the thorough humilitation by the Germans led me feel otherwise. I've been watching Argentina played in World Cup since i was only a schoolboy, each time, the world cup ended with disappointment, although by far, this is the furthest I've seen them in this World Cup.

The ball is round, that makes it no different from the fact that just because of its shape, anything can happen. Odds were stacked lowly against hot favourites, Spain right before the compeition, so low i didn't see them as a threat. Possibly because there are so many hype on them, I got turned off.

Before the compeition fever even started, i locked my sights on teams that has the potential to create impact in this compeition, less for Australia aside of course. Holland and Argentina seems to be the real potential threat in this competition and turned out to be very true.

Drama follows the moment the compeition starts and it seems like draw is a common result, i can't help but felt that it's one of the most boring World Cup i've ever watched. So boring, i lost my money (damn).

Did a calculations and turned out quite amazingly, i bet a total of 45 matches out of 64 matches, of course, recording only a win out of every 4 matches. All in all, i'm still glad my loss did not hit 3 digits. It's even more fun that me and the girl spent lots of night chat talking about World Cup, and even came up with our very own game of predictions, there's even a prize for it, but somehow, this game of prediction just stopped (there goes my prize). Haa.

Back to my beloved Argentina. 4 straight wins and i was high on hopes on having watched them in their best since years ago and determined to laugh loudly at that bloody octopus. And that turns out to be a greatest humulitation by the Germans. I was not angry nor upset, but more of a utter disappointment i felt deep within myself. Gone are the dreams of watching them lift the trophy.

Just when i thought Holland could possibly live my next best dream, they got dumped out at the very last few minutes of the compeition. Cruel and left my speechless. It's a mixture of good and bed i feel toward this World Cup. Good on the fact that me and the girl both went crazy and started downloading world cup related apps, browsing through apps and web to search for the places we can possibly watch soccer, so crazy we had our impromptu moments. Never before, seriously, had i been so crazy over the desire to catch a soccer match, thanks to bloody Starhub and Singtel i guess. I guess, i won't have to mention anything about the bad..

May Fun Starts

Lazy me! It's been like half of May gone, and only now that i'm going to blog how my May has passed.

First day of May started off quite badly. NATAS Fair this time round proved to be a complete waste of time of money, what got even worse is that, the flu struck me half way through labour day, allowing me to be a free labour for only half a day. Thank god. Work has become too hectic now that fair as on like almost every other week, that most of us doesn't seen the motivation to strive as hard for these fairs. Gone are the days where people will look forward to one spectacular travel fair and make their 'now or never' holiday plans...

Speaking of which, the girl went Hong Kong. No Skype. No calls. Feels very different which provides me a taste on how is it like to miss someone this way, which brings me back to March this year itself. That surprise call marks the most memorable moment through that 4 days which is probably the biggest surprise ever...!

Take my hats off to the power of women. It's of no wonder how they can squeeze tons of stuff into just one luggage. I guess i'll see more of those capability when next week comes. Sweet of her to 'put' her tireness at night at went for a wonderful kbox session with me. Awesome stuff as right now, the promotion cost a superbly cheap $8 NETT per person. Promotion is still on and so, go on and sing till hearts content. Everything ended perfectly well until that very incident which caused my poor toe to suffer for the next few days.

The girl bought lots of stuff with me, which makes me even more amazed on how did she even managed to squeeze EVERYTHING into her luggage. The Tau Sa Piah, apparels, and MANGO! She found Mango! MANGO!!! Yes....so real and true (only i know this little secret)when she passed MANGO to me...fated i must say...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sad to say, Man Utd had a rather good season but probably without lady luck on their side. Losing the Champions League and FA Cup this season was indeed disappointing enough. Just themselves to blame for losing the title eventually to Chelsea anyway!

Now that the season is over and it's time to switch over to the 'once is every 4 years' WORLD CUP. Shameful enough, the price of the subscription has turned many people off. I reckon i won't have much chance to watch, especially after i decided boycott them because partly, MioTv simply just sucks...I'll just to depend on streaming online (let's pray it works) as well as catching it over the weekends outside! And for sure, i'll bet on Argentina to lift the cup once again, ever since their last in 1986!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mother's Day was a rather simple affair this year. A meal and a nice lily marks my mum's day. But i suppose it's Mother's Day to her for as long as i'm still her son...I Love mum!

Disappointing Man Utd

I can't help but really blog about this. My passion is not as strong as before, largely due to the fact that my dad decided to remove Starhub Cable TV from our home sweet home. I choose to remain the Red Devils faithful but signing up for Singtel Mio TV for the soccer channels, not wanting to distance myself from Man Utd. But as i pen everything down now, they are literally disappointing every fans possible.

Not to mention the Glazers takeover which has already happened donkey years ago, and making Man Utd piling with debts that not you and i can ever paid for even 1/10 of it in our entire lifetime. Worse, the selling of C.Ronaldo doesn't seem to be doing Man Utd any good, even though until now, i still want to believe C.Ronaldo isn't what's behind Man Utd success in recent seasons. Lastly, their inconsistency and injury lists is the most worrying part. None and i really mean none, not even my Beloved Ryan Giggs, is consistent this season. Let alone the old white retard who loves chewing on his gum and has been standing by the sidelines for decades always not knowing what he is doing exactly.

Probably i sounded harsh, but put yourself in the shoes of every Red Devils fan, that is exactly how we will feel. Disappointment after disappointment. Loss after loss to opposing team which we would even not want to see and worse, losing to Leeds United, giving up the FA cup which Man Utd has claimed honours for years.

I dare not hope for anything else, but i'll just look forward to next season but meanwhile, i shall get myself into the mood of world cup. Hope Argentina don't disappoint as much as Man Utd does.

Go Argentines!

The Fray - My New Addiction

I'm totally addicted to The Fray. Perhaps it's just those few songs - 'Over My Head (Cable Car)', 'Look After You', 'How To Save A Life' etc...I've known of them just last year. Surprisingly, i took another level of interest in them just days ago and it brought me to a new level - Addiction. I could listen to their songs over and over again.

And so i went on to check out the lyrics of those song, all their lyrics were quite well written actually, full of meaning to evoke your emotions. I 'wikiped' them and found out more. Curiosity kills the cat and in this case, i'm fully satisfied and it killed my heart literally. Their music videos posted on youtube, especially 'How To Save A Life', surprisingly has 11 millions over view counts. They aren't popular in Singapore, of course i'm comparing their popularity with the likes of those like that of ColdPlay, GreenDay etc...but in America and Europe especially, their albums were selling like hotcakes and they are darn famous and popular there, with their concert tickets sooo hot and in demand.

I would die for a concert of theirs. And if they were to come to Singapore, i'm sure to be there to let them kill me 'LIVE'. Meanwhile, check out this song embedded in my blog...Hope you like it...

- The Fray - Over My Head (Cable Car) -
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a queue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger
I could disengage
Say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Sex is Zero 2

Sex is Zero 2 is finally out. I caught the part 1 months ago though the part 1 was released like 6 years ago. After 6 years, Sex is Zero 2 finally returned, with the original same cast.

(Law student Eun-sik and beautiful swimming champion Kyung-ah (Princess Hours' Song Ji-hyo) are a campus couple. But Eun-sik has not been able to get past kissing. Still in pursuit of "getting laid", he lets out his sexual frustration by overly working out at the gym and is now used to taking care of it himself.

On the other had, Sung-kook, a long-time college student and the leader of the school's K-1 fighting club, shares quarters with the members of the girls' swimming club. He freely indulges in his sexual desires with the beautiful girls of the swimming club.

After learning about Eun-sik's troubles, Sung-kook sets out to help Eun-sik get what he wants the most. But even with Sung-kook's guidance, Eun-sik experiences one disaster after another, and even gets mistaken for a pervert. As Eun-sik is preoccupied with finding ways to sleep with Kyung-ah, a new guy enters the picture, Kyung-ah's childhood sweetheart. Not only could Eun-sik not find ways to sleep with Kyung-ah, he might end up losing her altogether. )

Sadly, Dear wasn't able to watch because she's not 21 yet. So any 'adult' interested to watch this movie with me??

Attempt in making a Waffle

I discovered my new love for waffle ever since that last visit to Billy Bombers. If you read my post, you would have realised how heavenly that waffle it, and if you tried it, i bet you would have agreed with me.

Out of temptations, i went to the supermarket and bought myself the prepacked waffle, ice cream and some chocolate bars in an attempt to make a poor duplication of the heavenly waffle.

My results:

The appearance was obviously far from what i described as heavenly, but the taste is good. If only i put it in the conventional oven longer, then the waffle would be crispy. Ice cream is from some low end brand, unlike the one from Billy Bombers, they served big scoop of Ben and Jerry chocolate ice cream. Well, i'll dig abit more out of my pocket next time to buy the Hagen Daaz Ice Cream and topped the waffle, hopefully it will turn out much better and tastier..

Patapon!

Dear's promoted!!! Seriously, i'm very happy for her. She was still saying how hard it was for her to promote, even though she has been thinking and wishing for that. Along with her, even my ex colleagues, now my Jie Jies all got promoted as well. I felt that gush of happiness upon receiving the news, i don't know why, i felt so happy. Perhaps that period of time while working with them, i really feel very comfortable. They made me feel so welcomed and i've learnt alot from them as well. I thanked tham and i'm glad i met them at some part of my life as well.

Back to Dear's promotion. She was still dwelling the day before, and there i went, consoling her and thankfully, she didn't take anything to heart. I bet she must be super elated to learn the news as well. She's treating me to a sumptuous meal as well which i simply can't wait and look forward to very much.

Back to my Patapon, i'm facing great difficulty in completing a stage. It's so difficult that i spent hours on it and still failed. But thanks to Louis, i guessed all i need is to farm for more items and whack it to DEATH!

Both Dearie and I went to apply for NTUC Plus card. Not sure about the privilleges and we just applied, since it's free anyway.

Patapon

For all those who owns a PSP, try this game - Patapon. It's a rhythm game, a game similar to audition or DJMax whichever you think is more appropriate. It require a little strategy planning as well.

A game perfectly targeting at a different market. No longer will girls watch their boyfriends excitedly playing their PSP away while out on date. No longer will kids get confused over the 'so many codes and button configuration'. It's a game for almost everyone.

Don't even be fooled by its cute character in gameplay. It's as not easy as it seems. I'm stuck at this stage where i had to learn a new 'music' and there i goes, hitting and hitting only to end up getting my army eaten up by it.

Wait no more, get hold of this game and you'll find yourself finally completing your very first PSP game.Wahaa...Gotcha! Too bad Dear didn't get the chance to play...perhaps soon ok...

Street Magic

Recently into magic - Poker Cards Magic to be exact. It's amazing how the world of magic can be, but seriously there's no such thing as magic, it's all illusion with some distraction. Poker Cards magic is better categorised under Street Magic whereby the performer will cause illusion among the audience if not, make certain effects out of his own performance.

I'm just getting started and far from the so called Magician. Firstly, i'll need a professional deck. It don't cost cheap but certainly i'm saving up for this new hobby. I found a great friend who share this little interest with me as well...

So don't be surprised when you see my handling out cards in future when you are out with me...
